Hallstatt Market Square and the immediate village. Small, manageable — toddlers can run the main street without risk. Lake swimming possible at the small beach.
Early dinner at a lakefront restaurant — Hallstatt has good family options. The lake turns extraordinary colours in evening light.
Salt Mine Morning
Funicular to the salt mine at 9:30am (pre-book online — capacity limited). Allow 90 minutes for the full tour. The 64-metre wooden slide at the end is the highlight of the trip for ages 4+.
Return to village by 13:00. Lakefront café for lunch, then nap. Afternoon: electric boat hire on the lake — peaceful, beautiful, completely child-safe.
Skywalk Hallstatt at 18:00 for the late afternoon light — the funicular runs until evening.
Dachstein or Obertraun
